The Annotation

All texts in the corpus have been annotated lexically and morphosyntactically. The lexical annotation layers are as follows:

  • transliteration – Transliteration of the word form into the modern Lithuanian alphabet (Layer "\sf" in Toolbox),
  • modernized form – Modern Lithuanian equivalent of the form ("\nf"),
  • lemma – citation form ("\lm"),
  • accented lemma – ("\lma"),
  • language – ("\lg"),
  • gloss of lemma (lt.) – Lithuanian gloss of the meaning of the word in context ("\glL").

The grammatical annotation layers are as follows:

  • part of speech lemma – (Layer "\psL" in Toolbox),
  • part of speech form – Part of speech of the concrete form in the text according to its function ("\psF"),
  • morphology – lemma – Categories inherent to the lemma, such as inflection class or grammatical gender ("\pdL"),
  • morphology – form – Specification of the inherent categories based on the concrete form in the text ("\pdF"),
  • inflection – Variable inflectional characteristics of the concrete form in the text ("\pdlF"). Shows the endings of the form if it displays dialectal or orthographic peculiarities.

Individual annotation layers can be toggled via the header of the reading view and search screen. The tagset used for the morphosyntactic and lexical annotation is explained here.
